Yn ei lythyr at Edward Richard ar Fawrth 26ain, 1761 dyma gwestiwn gan Lewys Morys wrth holi am ddawn a chymwysterau un o ddisgyblion barddol Edward.

"Is he in raptures with a cup of good Ale?.... Doth he affect low company and greedily swallow the praise of tinkers and cobblers? Would he get out of bed to sing the harp, as gronwy osed to do when with me? Is he naturally inclined to buffonry, dirty language and indecent expressions?
